Kentaro Matsuura

Ph.D (Engineering). Since Kentaro Matsuura joined Sony Group Corporation, he has been engaged in the development of “Sony’s Earth MIMAMORI Platform”. The Platform senses everywhere on the Earth and detects signs of environmental problems, disasters, and other anomalies. It communicates these signs to people and encourages them to take actions that lead to sustainability and prevent problems from occuring in the first place. He is also Invited Faculty at Institute for the Promotion of Business-Regional Collaboration of Hokkaido University since 2022. He has been leading multiple smart agriculture research and development projects, including wheat growth monitoring utilizing satellite communication technology. He received two academic awards as the first author including the Young Award (IEEE IWJT) in 2019 and Research Award from Silicon Technology Subcommittee of Japan in 2021.
