He graduated from the Faculty of Science at Tohoku University in 1998 and joined Kokusai Kogyo Co., Ltd. in the same year. He has been engaged in research and practical applications of remote sensing, including various optical and SAR satellites, as well as ground and airborne remote sensing. He is P.E.Jp (Civil Engineering, Forest and Engineering Management) and a Registered Surveyor. He received the Best Presentation Award from the Remote Sensing Society of Japan (RSSJ) in 2003 and 2010, the Best Poster Award from the ISPRS 20th Congress in 2004, and the Best Presentation Award from the Japan Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (JSPRS) in 2005. He is a member of RSSJ, JSPRS, the Japanese Forest Society, and the Japan Society of Civil Engineers. He currently serves as Vice President of RSSJ and Executive Director of JSPRS.
