He is the inventor of CAMUI-type hybrid rocket, one of a leading researcher in hybrid rocket field, and well-recognized pioneer of hybrid rocket launches in Japan. He has been honored by The Japan Society for Aeronautical and Space Sciences (JSASS), The Japan Society of Mechanical Engineering (JSME), and Combustion Society of Japan for his contributions to hybrid rocket developments. Recently CAMUI-type hybrid rockets developed by his group play an important role as a small-scale rocket experiment tool due to the simplified safety management requirements and high reliability. Since 2015 to 2019, He was the chairman of the advisory committee for space engineering in ISAS, JAXA. Since 2012 to 2018, He was the president of UNISEC, a non-profitable organization to support practical space development activities in universities and colleges. UNISEC-global was organized in 2013 and recognized as a UN-COPUOS Permanent Observer in 2017.
